The Microcurrent Facial: Lift Your Eyebrows Naturally!

A beauty treatment that does more than make your skin glow.

I’ve had a few facials in my time. They’re generally relaxing and rejuvenating and almost always guarantee a post-session glow that lasts for, well, a day or so. In my book, facials are OK. I wouldn’t refuse a free one, but I definitely wouldn’t trade a hearty foot rub or a full-body massage for some facial healing.

That is, unless the facial in question was a microcurrent facial. I’ve experienced one microcurrent facial to date, and the results were stunning -- and surprising!

My eyebrows, which I always found to be in a perfectly fine position on my face, actually moved half an inch up my forehead. Half an inch! In case you’re wondering, elevated eyebrows make you look more healthy and alert (i.e., younger).

I thought things like this only happened with the help of Botox or a facelift. With my eyebrows as proof, I discovered that this is far from the truth. A microcurrent facial uses neither synthetic chemicals nor surgery to fight aging. Instead, the facial uses a tiny electric current to tone and strengthen facial muscles. When the muscles of the face regain tone and elasticity, the skin looks better too. The treatment is painless and produces speedy results that I found to last a good handful of days, which is ideal before a big event. Check out a video of the procedure here.

My microcurrent practitioner, Maria Del Castilho, is based in New York City and charges about $130 per session. You can also find the treatment at spas, salons and dermatologists’ offices around the country.

From now on, when it comes to facials, I’m going electric!
